Welcome one and all to the June ’08 issue of The World of Myth.
There has been a lot of activity at the headquarters of Dark Myth Production Studios. While most of this will not affect our readers, you may notice some settling of dust as we finish moving things around. Our goal is to give our audience a higher quality magazine.
One of the more noticeable changes is the addition of a new column designed to both entertain casual readers and instruct budding young writers at the same time. Please be sure to welcome Jerri Yager to TWoM by stopping at her new column, Text Education, where she introduces a mysteriously sensual alter ego.
Before I move on to this issue’s table of contents, I’d like to congratulate our Member of the Month winner, Kelly James. Keep up the good work and be sure to pick up your prize whenever you like.
Without further delay, I present to you this issue’s lineup of entertainment:
Action/Suspense: Fly into the future with the adventurous heroine in The Sapphire House – Part 2 by Marileta Hunsford.
Fantasy: T.G. Browning offers the beginning of his modern day fantasy, Scream of the Butterfly – Part 1 & 2. Kevin Adams and I release another sample chapter of our epic novel, Black Rising: Chapter 2 – Part 1 & 2. Adam Janus pours the topping on this flavorful section with The Last of the Eagle Riders – Part 1.
Poems: Marileta Hunsford and Michael Sauve return with Kevin Magnus to present their poetic talents for your reading enjoyment.
Art: Check out the latest illustrations by our imaginative artists: Fairy by Dan Moran, Warped & Twisted by Michael Suave, Sakura by Rebecca C. Lofgren and Celeste D’Luna by Sean Yager.
Horror: What happens when the world of nightmares collide with the world of reality? Find out in Bleeding Dreams by John Miller.
Humor: New contributor, Grampa Perky, recounts Going Camping with Grandpa, a story that just might have actually happened to him. Read it and decide for yourself.
Columns:
Movie Reviews – Pixilated Polly’s new husband takes her to see the recently released (as of this writing) Iron Man. She also compares Buffy the Vampire Slayer (The Movie) against the TV series of the same name. Check out her recommendations.
Book Reviews – Kelly James gives us the scoop on a novella by Bret Jordan and made a special effort to obtain permission to re-print the Mystical Nymph’s review of our own Sara Saint John’s newest novel, Trust the Night. Kelly also takes on Jezzy Wolfe as a special guest this issue as she reviews Fried! Fast Foods, Slow Deaths – A Graveside Tales Anthology 2007.
Interview – The Myth Master enjoys his job far too much. He has somehow managed to drag Dan Moran – kicking and screaming – into his stew pot. Read the gruesome details as Dan reveals his darkest secrets for our readers.
Featured Writer – On extremely short notice, Slepter Zephyr has written an article on his favorite novelist, Terry Goodkind, author of The Sword of Truth series. See why Terry Goodkind should be on your “must read” list.
As always, I encourage you to cast your vote in the poll accompanying each poem, story or work of art. Our forum is also available to discuss the stories in more detail so please feel free to express yourself there. You never know when your post might appear in the Editor’s Favorite Forum Comments.
I suggest that you grab a cup of coffee, pull your computer up close and find a comfortable chair to recline in. You’re about to experience new worlds of adventure.
Now sit back and enjoy the ride.
