Helloween
By: Kevin Adams

Jordan Kurtman sat at his office desk daydreaming about the weekend to come with his lovely fiancée. His slicked back locks jutted out in several places, a hairstyle of his own creation. His positive demeanor and excellent people skills had recently landed him a position in the customer service department for a large party coordinating agency.

He felt this agency was at the top of the food chain, so when his good friend Kevin invited him to come and work for the company he was all too eager. Besides, his job at the local movie rental store had gotten bland and unrewarding as of late so he was ready to try something different.

As the last hour of work was winding to a close he received a call from a new client. She gave her address and told him to show up at her house early tomorrow morning. Jordan excitedly relayed the information to Kevin, who in return reminded Jordan that his performance with this initial client would be heavily evaluated and that much was expected of him.

Once morning came Jordan found him self at a very lavish estate, complete with a huge iron gate and guard shack. He was escorted inside by a burly sentry with a name tag that read: “Tiny.” Now if that was not ironic he did not know what was.

Large wooden doors swung open as he entered and his mouth almost went agape at the extravagant décor within. Marble floors, pillars, painted ceilings and what looked like priceless paintings all adorned this main room.

From atop the staircase another wonder came, perhaps one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen, and her walk indicated that she knew it. Her silky red dress complimented her curvy body, flowing with her as she moved. Jordan’s mouth fell slightly open at the sight of her satin scarlet gown and her glossy rouge lipstick.

It took him a moment to regain his composure. As she reached the bottom of the stairs she introduced her self as Ms. Sahween and that she was eager to get started. Jordan produced his company’s materials and gave her an excellent presentation.

She outlined her plans for a large feast but Jordan found it hard to concentrate as her sweet and sultry voice seemed to drip like honey from her lips. For a split second he found his eyes wandering from her cleavage, down to her hips and then to her smooth legs.

“Mister Kurtman, are you even listening to me?” Jordan’s attention was abruptly refocused to the angry countenance of Ms. Sahween. His cheeks blushed and his head nodded as he tried convincing her that he had been listening and certainly not ogling her.

After he returned to the office he found a note on his desk, written by his angry boss, regarding his ‘visual’ imbibing of the client. Jordan sent an e-mail to the manager and ensured him that he was totally focused on serving the client’s every need regardless of his mishap.

That afternoon Jordan received another phone call from Ms. Sahween. Although she did not sound angry he instantly felt her cold voice throughout the icy conversation. She informed Jordan that wealthy part-goers had paid her well to conduct a séance and call forth the dead spirits of their loved ones. Although he was truly uncomfortable with the thought of spirits and such, he pretended that he was copasetic with the idea.
