When his words completely registered, everyone’s eyes burned into me, each wanting to know what’s wrong with this sorry looking son of a bitch. Even though no one said anything directly, I could read it in their faces.
“Hello…my name is Thomas,” I eventually said to those sitting next to and around me, before some of them might hold me down and beat the answer out of me. They reminded me of a pack of hungry wolves, but instead of food they hungered for information about me.
“Hi, Thomas,” everyone said in a perfect monotone voice. I wondered to myself how many times have these people done this. Their cadence in their response was almost frightening.
“So, Thomas,” the therapist said in an overly perky voice, “since you are new here, would you like to go first?”
Ah shit, here we go, I thought to myself. I told him 'No,' but he insisted until I was up on my feet about to share with the six of them and God himself, about my 'little' problem.
“Where do I start?” I asked as I began to nervously roll my thumbs.
“From the beginning, of course,” the perky therapist replied.
So after a deep sigh, I began to bare my soul. I told them that my wife wanted to have a baby. After she requested this, everything stopped working almost instantly. We tried everything--foreplay, videos, roll playing, whips and chains; you name it we’ve done it! I even told them about the special thing she would do in the past to get me fired up and ready to go, but even that lost its hold on me.
I stood there for a few good twenty minutes telling them everything and even offered a few of my own ideas on what the problem might be. After I finished, I was surprised to find how renewed I felt, especially with the last part where I broke down and cried. So, before I sat back down, I asked the man in the center of the room about his thoughts on what I had just shared with him, but he only sat there with his mouth hanging wide open. Then I noticed that the woman directly behind him had the exact same look as he did. In fact, I realized that everyone there was just sitting in disbelief with their jaws hanging inches away from the ground.
