Reunion

Empowered by the other woman’s reaction, JoBeth stepped forward and said, “You died almost instantly.” Pointing to the stab wound in her abdomen, she continued, “I, on the other hand, lingered in agony for a time.”
Seeing dozens of men and women flickering into the room, JoBeth picked up a dinner knife from the table before her and began stalking Eliza around the table. As each man and woman flickered in and remained, they followed JoBeth’s example and picking up knives of their own, moved toward Eliza.
When Eliza had no where else to run and when she was standing face to face with her, JoBeth yelled, “Shall we see if you can feel pain after you’re dead!”
As if it was a well rehearsed play, every person Eliza had killed that night raised a knife over their head and stabbed downward, burying the blades deeply into her flesh. Blood showered out, raining on the blood-thirsty mob, their laughter soon drowning out Eliza’s screams.
