Blue skies, shining above. Nothing but blue skies, from now on. Or so the song goes. It is the May long weekend here in Canada, and although it is not what I had anticipated, it will be entertaining and filled with fun none the less.

The warmer weather has arrived in force and it looks like it is only going to get better. This has inspired me to write, to create and to dream. It has beckoned me outside, and much like the character in my story this month, I stepped out, blinking, into the sun.

Congratulations to Dawn DeBraal for winning Member of the Month. I have always enjoyed Dawn's writing and this story was no exception!

Congratulations to all the contestants who have been named thus far in the Open Contract Challenge. The anticipation is building towards our top 10!

I want to put out a huge congratulations to David K Montoya on the completion and upcoming release of his children's book on May 25, 2021, The Missing Unicorn in the Land of the Zombie Fairies. What started as a labor of love and a story for his daughters turned into a story that many followed along with in the magazine and eagerly awaited new installments each month. As the editor, I had the privilege of reading the entire book, and fell in love with Emma, Olivia, and Theo. It made me laugh and it made me cry. It is a beautiful story and one that I cannot wait to share with my niece and nephew. I will definitely be having him on Lupa's Bits to pick his brain behind the idea for this very creative story.

As you can see from the Minutes in what used to be our Commentary section, we have so many things happening within the company. I want to take our little well-loved magazine to new heights while maintaining the integrity and friendships that you have all come to expect from us. New contests, new categories. Just so many new and fun things I am fairly bursting with excitement!

PCE/Scarefaire is gearing up to be one amazing event. Be sure to follow us on Instagram at @scarefairehd!

We are adding podcasts to fill our roster and I hope you will give them all a listen. Nothing will be the same again! And that is a good thing.

Change is good. It needs to happen in order for there to be growth. The magazine is but a small part of a much larger company that is growing by leaps and bounds. I want to take us with it. So, strap on your seatbelt because this is going to be wild ride!

I know this is shorter than usual, but the sun beckons, and the river is whispering my name. I must be off!

If you are Canadian, have a wonderful May 2-4 weekend! If you are American… have a great weekend.

Stay safe and be kind.
