Winter's Love
By: Jeff R. Young

Discarded rose petals mark her path
As she wanders through the snow
She tiptoes her way through the winter dust
Her pale skin radiant with its warm inner glow

But as the breeze
Engulfs the trees
She seeks shelter in the pines
Rose petals fly
Into the sky
Floating in random lines

Her blue eyes search the forest deep
For the sounds of the woodland owl
But a smile spreads on her blood red lips
As she hears the sound of the distant howl

Wolves cry right
Into the night
Baying in the lunar light
She sets her eyes
Up to the skies
Knowing everything is right

She moves once again down the forest path
The rose petals leaving their mark
She moves with grace into the shadows
Showing her love affair with the dark

Soon she flees
Into the trees
Dancing in the moonlight
The moon can see
That she is free
As she dances off into the night
