Leave Your Box Of Empathy At The Curb
By: Rebecca Ilich

Sometimes I feel like life is too much.
I reach for the edge as my hopes and dreams are crushed.
Will I plummet today, will I hit the ground running.
I could reach for a hand but there are none coming.
I just need a chance a simple word or two.
But in this great big world we are all alone and that's nothing new.
We are born alone and we die alone.
I use to spend my days soul searching but the only thing I'm searching now is on my phone.
I live in a world where my greatest accomplishment is hiding all of my fears.
I smile and laugh while I hold back all of my tears.
With each drop I shed a little bit of pain.
But all these emotions are just too damn much I think I'm finally going insane.
I'm sorry that I'm too sensitive, a cry baby, or a drama queen.
Things could be different, I could be different if I had just one person on my team.
That's just not meant to be and I will never be understood.
So I face the edge alone like a good little girl should.
