All right, everyone, we finally got one of our Interview requests back,
so this month the Myth Master will conduct an, albeit somewhat short
(these guys are busy, you know), interview with Joe Quesada, the Editor
in Chief of Marvel Comics. So, here we go...
M.M. Mr. Quesada, we would really like to thank you for taking the time
to talk to us. I'm sure that a lot of our readers would like to hear a
little something from you. So, do you miss the 'simple' days, like when
you were an artist?
J.Q. Sometimes I do. It was a much simpler time, when all I was
responsible for was myself and the project I was working on.
M.M. What is a day in the life of Editor in Chief of Marvels Comics
like?
J.Q. No two days are the same. Some days I spend reading scripts,
others looking at art and others coming up with concepts for books and
events. Then there are days that I have to spend drawing, designing,
writing, what have you.
M.M. I guess you've done it all in the world of comics. What is your
next step?
J.Q. Beats me. I'm too busy to think about it right now.
M.M. Are there ever going to be any plans to bring ASH back to Event
Comics?
J.Q. Not at the moment.
M.M. Who has helped you the most at Marvel?
J.Q. I learned a lot from Bill Jemas, but right now Dan Buckley is just
an incredible help to me at Marvel. I also have a great support group
within my creators circle. Guys like Bendis, Millar and JMS are huge
helps as well.
M.M. Do you think that comic books are a medium that is still somewhat
overlooked by the general public as 'kiddie material'?
J.Q. Yes, unfortunately, but that's changing every day.
M.M. I heard through the grapevine that comics weren't your first choice
as a profession. Any truth to that?
J.Q. Yes. I wanted to be a musician.
M.M. So, when are you and your band going to put out a CD?
J.Q. Perhaps next year.
M.M. After you finish Dare Devil, what other projects might we be seeing
you in?
J.Q. I'm not sure yet. We'll see.
M.M. Okay. Well, I know that you're busy, Joe, so I'll end this here
and thank you again for taking the time to talk with us. For all our
readers out there, this is the Myth Master, saying, 'See you all, next
time. Peace and Love.'
