The Pear Tree
By: Christopher Bice

Too many drugs coursing inside of me
Hallucinations coming rapidly
Wrapping my blanket tightly to me
I collapse under an old pear tree

Christmas Eve and I say my goodbyes
No family around to watch me die
I've hit rock bottom with nowhere to go
Don't it just figure it's starting to snow

I start to shake uncontrollably
When suddenly a man speaks to me
I look up to see he's all dressed in white
His face is lit with a heavenly light

A miracle happened under that tree
This man of God gave my life back to me
The drugs oozed out from the pours of my skin
The Holy Spirit replaced the drugs within

The man looks at me with his smiling face
I was saved this night by God's good grace
He told me someone would come tonight
To lead me onto the path that's right

A heartbeat later and what did I see
A stranger soon came along to help me
I told him a miracle just happened to me
I was saved by a partridge in a pear tree.
