The Fog
By: Christopher Bice

Walk through the fog to a place of living dreams
Where Morla hides in muck fed by brackish streams.
Ask not of him what dangers may lie ahead
If you want to live, then bypass him instead.
If you encounter a pixie or a sprite
Better to run away than to stay and fight.

Dangers are lurking hiding in the trees
A long day of walking to get clear of these.
Soon you'll be through and on open ground
Stay wary of rock trolls they're all around.

Bridges too have trolls, living underneath
Best to tiptoe across with just bare feet.
If you can reach the plains on the westward side
Perhaps you can find an elf to be your guide.
Bribe him to take you to the fairy queen
She can send you back to where you've been.

A dangerous trip through the mountains for you
Losing sight of your elf you'll be a hapless fool.
Dwarves in the mountains, Orcs on the roam
Either would flay all the flesh from your bones.

Finally in the valley where the fairies play
But meeting the queen will be a hundred days.
You've lost your sanity reached the end of your rope
You tell the queen that you are doomed, there is no hope.
With a wave of her wand, you realize you're back home
Finally realizing you've been to The Twilight Zone.
