Whiskey Kiss

The bite and the burn remind me
I'm still alive, though that feels
like a lie.
The bite and the burn tells me
I'm here for one more day
sadly others can’t say the same.
The bite and the burn show me truth
were I tell lies and not
smile like I'm supposed to.
The bite and the burn close my eyes
but fill my dreams with sorrow and horror.
The whiskey kiss loves my pain
and misery and holds me closer
than a lover could.
