Review of Nyctophobia: The Hunted from Pandasauraus Games
By: Kevin Adams

WHAT? A board game review?
YES. TWOM lovers need to know of this one.
Nyctophobia means fear of the dark. This game is an experiential table top game that is going to redefine what it means to play a board game.
Nyctophobia: The Hunted is a cooperative game of survival where up to four players must work together to escape a maniacal predator chasing them in a pitchblack forest. But there's an interesting catch: the 'hunted' participants play the game wearing blackout glasses.
Players cannot see the board and have to rely on touch and information from each other to navigate their way to safety. In some instances players must also remain silent in order to avoid detection with only their wits and rocks to distract the lunatic who is after them.
I am an avid fan of board games and I have literally played thousands of titles, my own personal collection is about 60+ games (some say I have issues) and I can say that this is by far one of the most unique games I have ever experienced. It's idea originally comes from a young lady who would often play regular board games with her blind uncle and they had to modify the game in some way so he could play. She wanted to create a game that he could play straight out of the box.
It plays in 3045 minutes and holds 35 players aged 8 and above. It retails for $39.95 which is an excellent price for what you are going to be enjoying, considering board games can range anywhere from $24.95 to $99.95 and up. Pandasauraus Games and the 17yearold designer, Christine Stippell, have done very well with game concept and component design here. All the pieces look simple at first, but once your vision is taken away it becomes very different.
This was an enjoyable game on both sides of the fence, both as the hunter or hunted, it's a great games for those who want an experience that is tense and unusual in good ways. Some have said the artwork needs attention, but most of the players are blinded so why would they need artwork? This game only needs willing players who are ready for an interesting ride in darkness.
Once you play it you'll understand why it's great at offering memory usage, variable player powers and player cooperation too.
For it's insanely good game concept and design among many other amazing things;
I give this game 5/5 stars
