“I have already opened your skull and have applied the first stimulus to your brain, which is of course when you came to. Unfortunately, we still have to complete the treatment lest the virus should again start its growth. You may, as result of the electrical stimulus to your brain, experience visions and what some people say is a bright light, but there is in reality no such thing. You just relax and your family will join you soon.”
Holly squirmed helplessly as the doctor disappeared behind her again. She heard the movement of some metal tools and then an eerie humming sound as if some machine was powering up. A sharp thud hit the right side of her head. For a short moment a bright light did come before her eyes; she blinked and saw her husband and daughter standing outside the room, looking in at her from behind an observation window.
Her mouth opened to call out and tears streamed down her face--she wanted to be with them, but the humming noise came again and so did a sharp thud to the left side of her head. After the flash of light was gone she saw two strange people staring at her through an observation window and she wondered who the man and little girl were.
One last time the humming noise was heard and a man in a white coat stepped directly in front of her. He held a long shiny rod in his hand. The young lady wondered who he was and what was going on. A humming came from the rod and tiny electrical arcing was emitted from the end; it was so pretty. She also smelled the distinct odor of sulfur coming from somewhere. As the doctor leaned in close to her, she read his name tag: Dr. Natas--an odd last name.
He seemed quite pleased when he spoke. “Soon your family will join you and this epidemic will once again be slowed-- Ignorant Christian Scum.” The woman was unsure if he was addressing her or not, but her thoughts were interrupted as a sharp thud smacked against her forehead. She closed her eyes and drifted into a stifling darkness.
John Grant opened his eyes to find himself laced into a straight jacket and lying on the floor of a padded room. The hot room smelled vaguely of smoke and brimstone. A doctor in a white lab coat sat in front of him and smiled as he stroked his pointy black beard. John thought to himself that he must be groggy as he noticed the doctor had cat like eyes and strange reddish skin. The doctor spoke very calmly and seemed quite happy with what he had to say. “Your wife’s treatment was a great success, Mr. Grant, and you will be pleased to know that after your treatment is finished your daughter will join both of you.”
The End
