Halloween s Howl

Genre: Drabble & Flash

Let me tell you all now, of the Halloween howl. It isn't a grey wolf, and it isn't an owl. Listen closely on Halloween night. You can hear the wind keening, it will give you a fright. Sleep with one eye that is open, don't turn off your porch light. Cuddle your loved ones and squeeze each one of them tight. For the Halloween howl begins at the setting of the sun. It is the sign for you to flee, for everyone to run. The Halloween howl is the opposite of fun. Nothing can protect you, not a single thing and no one. How do I know so much about this sound? Why am I telling you to vanish underground? Why do I say for you to stop running around? My reasoning must be spoken. It shall never be found. For the truth is difficult you see. The truth is that the Halloween howl is me. I want to escape. I want to be free. Trapped in the realm of death I be. I beg of you, look in the mirror and say my name times three. Only then will be soul find a place to rest. A body like yours seems a good option, the best. So, I put your bravery to the ultimate test. There, I've said it, I've finally confessed. So tonight, when you hear it, my angst on the wind. Will you think for a moment in what way I've sinned. Or will you seek out a mirror and see if I've grinned? Join your voice with the others, whose sanity I've unpinned.
