A Different Kind of Invader

Staring at the formerly-magnificent forest, Neville couldn't believe his eyes and tears filled them. He hadn't been here in years but this was unimaginable. Everywhere he looked, there was nothing but devastation. Oh, it wasn't the most common kind but just as bad. The formerly healthy trees and plants had been engulfed and overpowered by heavy kudzu vines which had a very bad reputation for a good reason. They were capable of growing a foot a day, spread quickly, and that's exactly what they'd done.
      Anger growing, he focused on the wind and took control of it, sending it out to try and uproot the strangler vines, which were thick and sucked nutrients from anything they wrapped themselves around. That worked partially and the roots kept breaking, leaving portions throughout the soil, meaning they'd keep growing no matter what.
      Another idea came to mind and he sent tendrils of air in all directions, using them to gather hundreds of fig vines and bring them hurtling toward him. They were another aggressive plant and should do the trick. Redirecting them to envelop the kudzu and root deeply into the ground, Neville accellerated time. The figs began smothering the kudzu, around which he also wove crushingly-tight strands of air.
      Smiling grimly, he tightened his strands.
