Stephany - A Poem
Do not go my love
My little one
Do not venture off into the storm
Her father begged
His words a plea
But, by morning she was gone
Her father's blade
Heavy and sharp
She had found in a broken chest
Determined to seek the beast
She went
The fates did foretell the rest
She hunted high
She hunted low
Within the smog she found
A beast of great ferocity
Eyes of flame
Girth most round
"Release to me
My mother, dear!"
Young Steph then did so cry
The lizard laughed
His eyes a blaze
As he asked the small girl, "Why?"
"She is missed!"
"And she is loved!"
The brave girl did declare
"Learn your lessons
Well young maid
That life just isn't fair."
"Fail to fulfill
This simple request
Then you I shall sadly slay."
"An eye for an eye
A soul for a soul
Your life shall be lost this day."
The dragon laughed
To hear such threats
Our hero did thus make
To tell Steph, nay
Then laugh at her
Was the foul monster's biggest mistake
With cut and thrust
Of father's blade
And the determination of youth
Steph brought her mother
Home again
I swear I tell the truth
Father pleased
Mother saved
Poor Steph so then did die
For the deal struck with the scaled beast was
A soul for a soul
An eye for an eye
Thus ends this tale
In sorrowful victory
How love can conquer all
And in what way
We all can win
No matter how young or small
