Fairy Hollow

Rumbling sounded in distance but steadily grew louder and the ground began to tremble. The inhabitants of Fairy Hollow spilled out of the ancient hawthorns, flew toward the disturbance, saw what was approaching, and vanished.
One after another, large machines pulled up and lumbermen climbed out. They unloaded fellers which were used to cut down trees and fired them up in readiness to clear a portion of the forest. However, their machines immediately died with no warning. They restarted them, but the equipment turned off once again, so the men grabbed chainsaws instead.
The invisible fairies watched and exchanged glances, eyes blazing.
The saws yanked out of their wielders' hands, turned on them, and they were cut to ribbons.
Those still alive fled for their lives, but machines without drivers started and plowed them down.
The end.
