A Demon Lurks
"Although I am blind, every other sense is sharp. So when I tell thee that I know something
otherworldly, with evil intent, stands before me, stares into my sightless eyes with utter contempt, pray believe, even if the entity is invisible to everyone else.
I feel deep scratches as of claws upon my body, inflicted at night whilst I, as if in a stupor, lie abed. Wise Woman, I need from thee a potion of the strongest possible. I must stay awake
to send this demon from me. Dear Father's silver dagger will strike the blow."
Potion sipped, I lay down, to wake, as of yore, at cock – crow. I have again been injured, but
the pain of betrayal strikes my heart the hardest. I cannot go on. Tonight my silver dagger
ends me, thus freeing me from the demon's deadly grasp. Into death's shadow, when I will
have sight again. Where I will have an eternity in which to take my revenge.
