Joseph, who loved killing things, tried to crush the small seps with his foot, but it slithered into some brush nearby.
"Stupid thing," he muttered and kicked at the plants, but his quarry didn't come out. Whacking the brush with a stick didn't work, either, so he bent down to search for the creature.
Although the seps resembled an ordinary snake, it wasn't. People had learned this the hard way for countless centuries.
It darted forward, squirting venom onto Joseph's face.
As the corrosive substance ate away at his skin, he yelled and frantically rubbed his cheeks. That made no difference, though. Flesh melted from his face in rivulets, revealing bone underneath, but that began dissolving, too, and he screamed non-stop.
The seps sprayed Joseph again, more of him liquifying.
Soon only a puddle of ooze lay on the ground.
