That Strange May Day

By: Tim Law

That strange, strange day
That strange day in May
When the sky was so dark
A terrible grey

It just seemed so funny
To think that the day had started out as so sunny
But now the sky wept
Tears like great globules of honey

Thus is the nature of Autumn as a season
The weather can turn without care, no thought for rhyme or reason
To be a forecaster is such an impossible profession
If I were to be such, I'd claim the gods were committing treason

To those in the North the weather is warm
The pollen is plentiful, and you still get the odd storm
Regardless of which hemisphere you call home
Erratic weather patterns appear to be the Mayly norm

So, if you should be planning a fun filled family break
Or a wedding, with a photographic background somewhere down by the lake
Please avoid May as your preference of date
Else that joy and happiness you may be required to fake

For the gods of foul weather shall target your festivity
Blow it about and dampen its proclivity
Please heed my warning, it comes with some guarantee
May is not the month you should test your naivety
