The Best Clubhouse Ever

"I told you." Morgan smirked.
"And you were right," Gio admitted, studying the clubhouse they'd made from wood scraps. "It's the best ever, but we should've made it closer to home."
"This abandoned mine's better. Surely you don't believe the rumors."
"Dad says rumors are based on truth."
"So what? You always complain about having no freedom, but he can't tell you what to do here."
Gio grinned and they lit cigarettes, interspersing puffs with swigs of beer.
Hearing hissing, though, they emerged from the clubhouse and blanched.
Snakes oozed from the mine walls around Morgan and Gio, swarming them.
