Introduction

Hey Mythketeers,
SPRING!!
Yes, it has sprung. It is here, and I have mixed feelings about it. I love that it will be warmer, and when I get home, the weather will be nicer, and I can be outside, but it does mean that certain things are coming to an end. I don't usually go too much into my personal life, so I won't, just know that I am going to be unavailable for the next two weeks or so.
I haven't done much writing since the last issue, but I have been creative in other ways. I finished a miniature that I have been working on and made more stock for the upcoming festival season this summer. I am a vendor and make my own stock. It keeps me creative when I don't have the urge to write. Which is a good technique. A creative mind is a creative mind; the medium doesn't matter.
Maybe that is my message for this month. As the sun brings the beauty of nature to life around us, the colors begin to explode and brighten the muted tones of winter. Take some time to find a new creative outlet, if you don't have one. Doodle, paint, carve, sculpt. Play with plasticine, garden, or even try some new recipes. Anything that tickles that creative nerve. I've even been known to put on some music and dance around the living room. No set choreography, and sometimes not even rhythm. Just for the sheer pleasure of expressing my creative side through movement. As writers, we are continually trying to find ways to make our characters more human, more realistic. They say, write what you know. Well, if you find that you have a sculptor in your story, or a dancer, or even a singer, you need to know what that feels like. You don't have to be good at it; that isn't the point. You just need to know what the cool clay feels like in your fingers, or how a warm cup of water feels as it loosens the vocal cords after singing at the top of your lungs. You need to experience the satisfaction of watching something you planted grow. A story can feel like that, but when that eludes you, plant a seed. A literal one. Tend it, feed it, and watch it grow. Then write about the experience. Or don't. Sometimes you just need the movement of creativeness to get the mainstream of creativity flowing.
So, I have been making miniatures. Book Nooks that sit nestled between books and offer a peek into a tiny world. One that inspires daydreaming. I also make hair bling. Something pretty to put in your hair, or on your keychain, that brings color and sparkle into your world.
Keeping with the theme, I want to congratulate Sultana Raza and her poem Music of the Universe for being our Featured article.
I also want to congratulate Crystal Ramos for winning Member of the Month for her drabble, Paying for an Anti-depressive Companion Robot.
I also want to congratulate Idris Yusuf for his wonderful art on our cover.
I hope you are all enjoying your Spring, or for our Australian friends, Fall.
Until next month,
Stephanie J Bardy
