Board Game Review of Unbroken: A Solo Game of Survival and Revenge

Unbroken board game cover

You and your party venture into a dungeon in search of treasure… The monsters were waiting for you, and everything went south from there. They killed your entire party and should have killed you when they had the chance. Now, gather your strength, find your way, and craft a weapon from anything you find along the path.

This game is full of choices that will definitely determine your future success. I would say it's kind of a puzzle, but there is some luck to be had and you'd definitely better be prepared. Otherwise, you may come face to face with the big bad with nothing but your bare hands. That's never good. Monsters have variable attacks, but there are ways to anticipate the battle to come.

It takes about 30 minutes to play and maybe 5 to 10 minutes to set up depending on your quick choices. After my first play, I was in fact defeated, so I now am more eager to jump back into the dungeon again to see if I can actually win.

Overall I would rate this game a solid 6.5 out of 10, most of it coming from theme and freedom of choice. Artwork and flavor text also help develop some lore.

I would recommend you borrow or play a friend's copy and definitely watch a few reviews before you consider purchase.

Until next time, may the dice be ever in your favor.
