I drove through the night. My GPS directs me into the middle of nowhere. Cars materialized out of darkness, yet, always vanishing when I approached.
Are my eyes playing tricks?
Finally, I pass a car with staring faces. Every hair on my arms raises.
I called 911. No signal. I squeezed the steering wheel tighter.
Each new vehicle brought fresh terror: people with vacant eyes.
Hours passed, and more cars appeared. The occupants changed with each reappearance, but their gaze remained constant.
I don't want to stop.
Their occupants appear hungry and I'm just another meal waiting to be devoured.
