MOM Sinister Comedy
By: Kate MacDonald-Dunbar

Hiding in the highest tree I could find
I watched the crowd of zombies shuffling
and muttering below. Moving slowly but
inexorably towards the nearest lifeforce
Luckily, zombies never looked upwards

The Elders didn't know that I sneaked out at night
which was totally against the rules of course
My intel was useful for the morning strikes though
As long as they didn't know it came from me

I was always looking for my mother hoping I wouldn't
see her. So far there had been no sightings. She had been
missing for two days now, I was worried. I had shifted
a little on my perch when the unthinkable happened

The branch I was sitting on dropped, taking me with it
I landed well. I looked up to see a hoard of the undead
start to shuffle toward me. I then looked straight into
the dead eyes of my mom, who was licking her lips

My last thought was “Blimey, she's let herself go a bit.
