She caresses the inner bark.
No tree rings. Spells cascade
from her hands
like a waterfall
pounds the earth. She names a nymph

sparks up her spine
igniting all chakras. A protective

Echolocation by whale—
An ice song opens a codex.
Letters of prayers
for the Water Goddess.
Sound waves wash her.
Carry their guilt and shame.
She bears heaviness of the

tome

Under crescent moon
Water Goddess converses
in a fluid voice with sea urchin
who walks slowly using tube feet
avoiding starfish and wolf eel.

how she will

evolve
