The Christmas Cookie
By: Jim Bates

Mrs. Claus handed Santa a freshly baked gingerbread cookie. "Have to keep your strength up. It's Christmas Eve, you know."

"Thank you, my dear," he said, savoring every bite. "You're the best, but I must be off. Lots of toys to deliver."

Mrs. Claus waved, shut the door against the cold, and poured herself a strong eggnog.

Eddie, the evil elf, came in through the back door without knocking. "He eat it all?"

"Yes," she smiled. That poisoned cookie should do it.

"Then we can move to someplace warm and live together?"

"You bet," she smiled. "I'm thinking the Caribbean."
