Hello Mythketeers! The turkeys have all been cooked, the pies eaten, the tryptophan coma induced, and the Macy's Day Thanksgiving Parade has been watched. Something, this little Canadian, has never seen. It was a wonder. Although I had expected to see more balloon floats. I do have to say, I enjoyed it all. The whole shebang. Of which, I did all the cooking for. From the turkey to the not so stellar pumpkin pie to the award-winning apple pie. All me. I say this, not to complain, but to brag. I have never cooked a whole Thanksgiving meal by myself because I was always led to believe I couldn't cook. Not well at least. But I can. Decently. Except for pumpkin pie. Which wasn't a total loss as long as you put enough whipped cream on it. I learned two valuable lessons in the process. Never guess at pumpkin pie spice, and always check the turkey even if it says, “Ready To Cook”. The innards were included, and I don't know about you but THAT does not mean ready to cook! That means, remove bag, stuff with stuffing, and then cook! Thoughts are now turning to Christmas, and I am already gathering recipes for my baking pleasure and of course everyone's eating pleasure. The mistake with the pumpkin pie will NOT be repeated. No more guessing! LOL! Our magazine, however, isn't turning to Christmas just yet. This month is filled with stories of terror, joy, sadness, and laughter. And more poems than you can shake a stick at! It seems that the month between Halloween and Christmas inspires one to become nostalgic, melancholy and poetic. Our featured article just so happens to be a poem. With so many to choose from, it is no surprise, I'm sure. But this one captured my attention right from the title. I have always been fascinated with the Golden Ratio, and to read a poem that follows the Fibonacci Rule and still weave a beautiful piece of poetry, intrigued me. If you are unfamiliar with Fibonacci, I suggest you Google it. To do this in a poetic style and have it make sense and tell a tale is quite a feat. I would like to congratulate Peggy Gerber and her story The Crazy Lady of Coldwater Creek for winning Member of the Month. You can read it here. The Crazy Lady of Coldwater Creek By: Peggy Gerber Congrats to Vincent May who has graced our cover with his amazing art. As I sit here looking at snow up on the mountain, thankful that I am not battling the snow and rain back in Canada, I am reflecting on all that I am truly thankful for. I have so very little in the way of material things, just what my apartment holds, but am rich in ways I could never imagine. I have love, I have piece of mind, and peace of mind, I have peace of soul and a feeling of belonging. I enjoy my work and am blessed to live the life I do. I couldn't without my family. I am beyond thankful for each and every one of them, on both sides of the border. From our house to yours, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I look forward to reading your Christmas contributions for our December issue. Until next month, Stephanie J Bardy
