Through Wolf-Like Eyes Pt. 9 - The Finale
By: David K. Montoya

Clouds formed over the city as the sun began to set. It appeared that another summertime storm was moments away. While most attempted to escape the heat and humidity, the Gray-Eyed Man dressed in a nice suit sat quietly in his car and needed to make the right impression for this task. He rubbed his fingers over his left cuff link and removed a cuff. For a time, he forgot himself as a person.

The Gray-Eyed Man was never a junkie nor a person without class. Now, at that moment, he knew exactly who he was and would represent himself as such from then on.

He looked toward his next release, which had been months of planning and research. For the first time in a good while, he had not felt excitement, and while it was minor in comparison to his first kill.

No more dirty and emotionally inept women, the Gray-Eyed Man, knew what he liked and how to obtain what he craved. And this was going to be the first of those he sought after.

Across the street from him was a small dinner that was new to him despite its years in operation. But it wasn't the establishment that caught his fancy. Instead, it was Laura Graves, a young waitress who worked there.

He ran into Laura at the campus of a nearby community college. Her smile glowed, eyes full of life. That was what triggered him, the energy that radiated in her stare. Never in his years of existence had he been so full of vigor.

That fact bothered him, Was I jealous? He thought.

The Gray-Eyed Man took another drag from his cigarette. He watched as Laura, through the large pane windows of the dinner, began to wash down tables.

The Grey-Eyed Man smiled as he watched Laura walk into the small dinner; he knew it was time. The madness swelled inside him, and it was time to release it on his victims—no more holding back.

"Show time," the Gray-Eyed Man said as he opened his car door.

It was time for everyone to see through his eyes...through the eyes of madness.
