Mesmerized

Pipe to his lips, the Pied Piper played tune after tune, never looking behind him. Of course, they were there. Magic had never failed him and never would.

Children of all ages followed him, their eyes vacant.

Berchta soared unseen through the air overhead. The goddess had faithful worshipers throughout the children’s village, and despised magic-users using their power to ensnare victims. Considering the situation, though… She began singing, magic infusing her every word.

The Piper stopped moving, eyes widening, pipe forgotten. Mesmerized, he followed the voice right off a cliff.

After destroying his pipe, Berchta took the children home.

The end.
