Hello Mythketeers! It is a sunny day here in California, but no where near the temperatures I was promised. Seems the cold likes to follow me. Who knew? Unless it is winter in California, then it was warmer than usual. I am writing this intro from my latest spot in the road trip of my life and that is the house of our very own David K Montoya. I am back for another visit, only this time it is at his new house! I have been having the time of my life hanging out with his children and watching fantastic movies with him. The road trip here was an experience and if you listen to Lupa's Bits today then you will know why! Summer is in full swing, and my heart is a little sad as the first day of summer has passed. What many of you may not know is that I look forward to the first day of winter because that means the days will start to get longer, and warmer. The first day of summer signals that the dark times are coming back. The days will get shorter and cooler. It always seems as if we are racing to the cold dark of winter once we hit that first day of summer. Now, last month I said we were going to have two issues for June. One to celebrate Pride month and then our regular one. Unfortunately, we did not receive enough submissions for our Pride issue to put a magazine out, so the contributions to that one are now in our regular issue. I won't lie when I say I was disappointed. But those stories will still be told, they will still get the Pride recognition that they deserve, and we shall persevere. Congratulations to Jim Bates for winning Member of the Month for our May issue. Well done sir!! You can read his winning story at the link below. Also, congratulations to Connie Minutolo for being the artwork to grace our cover this month. Now for some insanely momentous news. The illustrious, always angry, and usually emo Kevin Magnus is officially retiring! From being in the very first issue of The World of Myth Magazine in 2004, to publishing his one hundred and first poem in this issue, he has decided that it is time to put the quill back into the inkpot and move on. We will miss you Kev, but you are destined for brighter days. Speaking of Kevin's don't forget to check out Mythmaster's latest interview with Peggy Gerber. As I sit here watching the sun start to set, listening to Platinum Blonde's Somebody Somewhere on my headphones, I am almost at a loss for words this month. As with the countdown to the darker days, my countdown to going home has, in a way begun. I will be back home in my own office when I write next months intro. That in itself is bittersweet. The days seem to pass way to quickly. As Dorothy said in the Land of Oz, 'My, people come and go so quickly here!' They sure do. Not to end on a melancholy note, I would like to raise a glass and a hearty cheer and send a huge congratulations from all of us here at The World of Myth Magazine and those over at Dark Myth Publications, to Mehreen Ahmed and the release of her book Incandescence . You can find it at www.mythmart.com and other great online retailers. Until next month,
