Twilight
By: Kathleen Chamberlain

Roused from slumber,
Twilight unwinds her scarf
Her multicolored tresses float vibrantly in the dimming sky.
Stretching her arms wide
Seeking the embrace her glowing lover
As he reins in his fiery steeds,
Driving the chariot of the Sun.
With each anticipated moment,
She exhales clouds of indigo,
The wellspring of passion
Pulsating in rippling pleasure.
They come together
Bodies intertwined,
Boundaries abandoned
Merging into one another
Pleasure exploding across the sky,
Luxuriating in contentment throughout the night
Until Diana from her chariot calls
One final look backward,
Fingers outstretched,
Twilight, with a melancholy smile,
Binds up her multicolored tresses,
Folds her arms across her chest
Sinking softly into slumber.
