Corona + Flu = Flurona

The medical community dubbed it Flurona,
as if it was a celebrity couple like
Brangelina or Bennifer,
this deadly combination of the flu
and the new mutant corona virus
sickening people all over the world.
Our brand new year has started off
with a bang, like a bullet to the head
and two years later all we hear is
covid, covid, covid,
and we are exhausted.
Mentally, and physically,
our psychic pain causing a fatigue
like we have never known before.
Because we thought it was over.
But oh no, it is back again
with a viral vengeance,
the cloth masks that once
kept us safe
are headed for the trash bins
as we frantically search for the big guns,
the N95s once only used
by medical personnel.
We don't know what to do.
Do we visit family?
Do we celebrate birthdays?
Do we dare to go on vacation
or even shop in a supermarket?
These questions left unanswered
bury us in an anxiety and
depression as deep as the ocean.
If we are all in this together,
than we have had enough!
