That Great Blue Leviathan
By: John W. Flukinger

Beautiful.
Monstrous.
A Great Blue
Leviathan.
The destroyer of Men,
and Egos.
Minutes to Hours, as Lightfoot once sung.
no Love to be found,
When the waves come crashing.
Titanic, Fitzgerald, the Wilhelm Gustloff,
The Costa Concordia too.
No one is safe from the
Great Blue
Leviathan.
Vessels in safe harbor;
the last place of refuge
Floating bodies at sea.
They say our ships are unsinkable,
A testament to Man's pride.
We say we've conquered the King of the Seas,
But instead we are ants. Foolish, naïve.
There is no taming the King of the Seas.
That Great Blue Leviathan.
